I have put Waffle 1.58 up for anonymous ftp on ames-nas.arpa, IP number 129.20.99.1, in pub/UUCP/waf158.arc; it is about 340k including executables, documentation, and support files. The system people here have asked that people obtain this during off peak hours (after 6pm pacific should be ok). To reiterate what I posted earlier, this package will operate o as a single user "UUCP/Usenet station" to send/receive UUCP mail and post/read Usenet messages o as a BBS, handling either local forums, Usenet newsgroups, or both, depending on how it is configured. Usenet and UUCP mail are smoothly integrated. It includes a 7 packet window uucico, uuxqt, rnews and rmail equivalents, BBS (or mailer, if used as a single station), and over 100k of docs. Since this is a "prerelease" some of the documentation may be unclear or have minor errors. If you have any problems with Waffle, mail to <root@vox.darkside.com> should get things clarified or fixed - we will be happy to help get things running smoothly. [ This will also be available for public download on +1 408 245 SPAM for those who do not have FTP access. However there will be a delay before I can get it there; probably Late Nov 2 or Nov 3 ] Three or four people have requested that I mail files to them. The program is too large for me to do this with a clear conscience.. Thomas Dell

Waffle includes a very full featured BBS system - private mail, file areas, userlog services and external programs. SPIES will be switching from CitaSim to Waffle as soon as I find time to breath.

(the 20 and 99 are reversed.) if you are unsure of any address, try nslookup i did nslookup ames-nas.arpa, and got the right address. (just thought i'd pass that on, since I just found out myself.)
