WWIVnet: Legion (MailOnly) [503-223-1314] - Node 5300 I run a WWIV, and one of the reasons it asks for birthdays is because you can set flags for message areas and transfer areas through an age requirement. Other softwares that do not have this option are forced to do it by hand. As for "Why?" birthdays are asked for: sex, smut, and areas for `mature' users. If I've got an area for sexually oriented text files and/or pictures on my BBS, I don't want some 12 year old getting in there are I definately don't want to end up validating everyone for this particular area.
