In response to your message of Thu Dec 23 01:53:04 1982: Re point 5, I would suggest wearing your \worst/ non-removable armor, because the likelihood of any armor not being rusted down to class 9 by level 12 is about .00001 much more questionable is point 7. In versions 5.x monsters will not enter a room lit by magic but will queue up behind the doors waiting to bash you (I found this the hard way when I wanted to find out whether a staff was teleport-to; waited out a whole ration of food with nothing showing up and then found ~8 monsters behind each of two doors that I'd checked previously.)
