Hello. I'm trying to revamp an XT that lost it's Disk Drive last fall to a fire in our house. I've just finished testing the mother board and the controllers and they are all okay. What I'm wanting to do with this extra computer is use it for a BBS. But, it will need to access the hard drive from the identicle computer that I bought to replace it (I figured it was a gonner!). What I'm needing to know is what I can do to access the other drive. I'm not familiar with the Intel system and these have NEC V20 processors in them anyway. Is there any possible way to hook these two machines together without spending a whole lot of money? In an educated guess, I'd think I could do it through a parallel or serial port. But, I'm not yet brave enough to experiment. I'm not real hip on going out and buying a LAN system just to do it either. Here's what they have: BOTH: NEC V20 Processor on Protek mother board Parallel/Serial Port 5.25 Floppy Controller(dual) 1200bps Databyte Modem 8 expansion slots NEWEST: Seagate ST225 20Meg. Hard Drive and WD1004A-WX1 Controller star NX-1000II Dot matrix printer GoldStar 12 inch monochrome monitor and Hercules Graphics adapter. Any information or pointers thereto would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance. ==|Jonathan R. Its hooks 2 or 3 PC's together via the serial port at a transfer rate of about 115K baud. It runs in the background and takes up very little memory. I know of other people running BBS's using this program in a similar enviroment. The adress is: Information Modes P.O. Drawer F Denton, TX 76202 (817) 387-3339
