We have observed a strange problem on our network recently that we can find no rational answer for. Our system consists of a Sequent Symmetry acting as a file server to a bunch of PC's running PC-NFS. We also have a few Macs and a 386 AT acting as an NFS/TOPS gateway. We recently found a number of files named "xdirstat.tps" on the Sequent in the file system available to the PCs. All files were 1404 bytes in length and (this is the worrisome part) all were mode 4777. SUN tech support has no explaination, we havn't bothered to call TOPS (yes they are both SUN companies, but you tell them that 8^) Any ideas welcome...
