sob@BCM.TMC.EDU (Stan Barber) (04/03/89)

PC/NFS 3.01 is coming....here is some of the new features and other
interesting things....

Support for DOS 4.00 is included:
Supports new DOS system calls including the new generalized
		file open/create calls.
	Improves extended error handling.
Cope with acknowledged bugs in DOS 4.00.
Believed to be compatible with MS-DOS 4.01 release, but not
		sure yet.

Applications fixes:
FTP -- mput buffer size is larger!
Control-Z EOF characters now stripped during text transfer

TELNET -- Select CR-NL or CR-NULL on "ENTER" keypress
	VT-100 emulation improved (I hope it's faster -- sob)
	Can exit from RECONNECT screen

CHMOD -- "chmod f:foo g:bar h:bletch" no longer changes the
	current drive

Compatibility fixes:
	Symbolic links work right!
Can now use RARP and net ypset * on subnets.
File locking and sharing problems fixed.
Serveral strange filename mapping problems fixed.
	RPC XID sequencing fixed.
"Directory search on a plain file" fixed.
	Null PATH bug fixed.
	Group ID Fixed.

Printing fixes:
Printing redirector cleaned up and made more reliable.
	Printer time-out now works correctly.
"net print filename" no longer messes up earlier redirected
	printer output.
CONTROL-D characters now stripped from PostScript output.
	Documented work-around for MS-WORD printing
Printer Hot-Key Fixed such that NFSCONF changes don't hang
the PC and it is remembered after rebooting.

SLIP Fixes:
SunOS 4.0 now supported. The new support will mean reinstallation
	on SunOS 3.X.
New "how to use SLIP" booklet available.
Software can recover more reliably when there is bad data on
	the dialup line.

Things NOT fixed:
TELNET -- No new terminal emulation, graphics or keyboard mapping
PRINTING -- No configurable time-out, no fix for job ownership,
no new printing protocol (still use pcnfsd), no checking of printer
	names for validity
DRIVERS -- no token ring support, Ungermann-Basss NIU support
	withdrawn, no new drivers

When? I wasn't told, but I'd expect during the summer.

No new release of the Toolkit was announced.
