Here is a question. Given the following: @Y H Which monster should I try to knock off first? Are there any general rules? I am assuming that neither monster is special, but you can do as you choose. -hou5e!mat Mark Terribile

Given the following : @Y H I would wipe out the H first : by the time one is deep enough to meet Ys, one has enough exp and Hp's to be able to take out an H with one or two swipes, and survive the one/two swipes by the Y. The Y takes a little longer to kill, and in the meantime the H is hammering away, weakening me, unless I get rid of him first. A similar strategy would be used in, for example, the following situation : @A C and it's the A that I'd swing at first. saumya k debray suny @ stony brook

In response to the question about what to do when facing @Y H and assuming you can't back away into a corridor (taking one hit from someone if necessary - it's often worth it), the best strategy is: Hit the monster which you can kill quicker. If you can finish the H off with one blow, do it. Otherwise the H will keep draining you down while you're exchanging blows with the Y. This is particularly true when the "weaker" monster is, say, a G, which you can often finish off with one blow but which can do noticeable damage if you don't. Dave Sherman Magnifibeast
