[comp.protocols.nfs] NFS caching bug?

liam@cs.qmc.ac.uk (William Roberts) (07/11/89)

According to a rumour I've heard recently, there is a bug
whereby "nfs file data on a client will not be flushed even
when this data is correct. This leads to various symptoms, one
of which is ... corruption of data in the file."

The rumour also says that there is a fix for this in Sun OS 4.0.1
which is great for Sun OS 4.0.1 users, but I have VAX source
code and NFS 3.0

Can anyone shed any light on this, either to confirm and
explain it or to state with authority that there is no such bug?
