Does anyone out there run pcnfsd from inetd (under SunOS 4.0.x or otherwise)? Are there any pros or cons to doing it that way? Are there any tricks to compiling it for inetd? (looks like there aren't) What line do you feed to inetd in /etc/inetd.conf? I assume it is something like: pcnfsd/1 dgram rpc/udp wait root /usr/etc/rpc.pcnfsd rpc.pcnfsd But what is the real name of rpc program 150001 (for field 1 above)? It isn't in my /etc/rpc (rpc.bynumber) list. [Even my sniffer doesn't know the number what it decodes a packet.] Any info would be appreciated. --Andy Shore Adobe Systems shore@adobe.com {decwrl, sun, apple}!adobe!shore

I wasn't able to get it to run on our Sun 4s. So we asked Sun about it, and they confirmed that it can't be done. So we start it in rc.local. We run pcnfsd from inetd on our Sun 3/280 running 4.0.{1,3}. In
/etc/rpc (on the YP master if there is one) add:
pcnfsd 150001
