[comp.protocols.nfs] PC-NFS 3.0.1

We just received a copy of PC-NFS 3.0.1 and ran across something that
concerns me. Apparently in version 2, a hostname longer than 15 chars
would wipe out the IP addr and other important fields. So, Sun "fixed"
it to make sure that the hostname is 15 chars or less (so far so good)
but also chopped off the domain name (now we have a problem). I guess
this helps people who have long domain names since it is no longer part
of the 15 characters. However, this means that you can't have the same
hostname for domains that co-exist on the same ethernet (like we have).
Sun made this same assumption when they designed Yellow Pages, and it
bit us there as well. Any opinions?
