[comp.protocols.nfs] PC-NFS upgrades

milne@ICS.UCI.EDU (Alastair Milne) (09/10/89)

   Hello,

We have been using PC-NFS 3.0 for a year or more now. Recently I've
started seeing mention of PC-NFS 3.1 (at least, the mention may not be
recent, but my noticing it is). Since all our PC-NFS copies are registered
with Sun, I'm wondering if we can hope to see upgrade offers in the near
   future?

It's 3.0.1, not 3.1. It SHOULD have been called 3.1, but that's another
story....

I recently posted an announcement which included info on upgrades*. Note that
only customers on support contracts get automatic upgrades; others should
order an upgrade kit from Sun's CSD or buy a new copy of 3.0.1 and
use it to upgrade existing PCs. I note without comment (?) the fact that
recent postings have suggested that it is much quicker to get
a new copy of PC-NFS than to drag an upgrade kit out of CSD....

* BTW, are the contents of comp.protocols.nfs archived in FTPable
form anywhere? I have everything since day 1 (currently around
half a megabyte), but my system is well hidden.... :-)
