[net.games.rogue] What does this staff do

In the last game that I played I identified a staff of cancellation.

I have not seen any reference to this staff in any net articles and
the game did not last long enough for me to find out what it did.

Could someone please tell me what this staff is useful for and what
hazards there are to its use.

A wand/staff of cancellation negates certain special characteristics
of some monsters, e.g. cancels an invisible stalker's ability to be
invisible.
