philf@xymox.metaphor.com (Phil Fernandez) (02/09/90)

Last week, IBM announced a very complete TCP/IP implementation for
OS/2. It includes all the standard stuff: Telnet, Tn3270, FTP, TFTP,
SMTP client and server, etc. Also, DNS support, Kerberos client and
server support, Telnet server, ftp server, routed, talk client and
server, rsh/rexecd, full client/server RPC/XDR and Apollo NCS
libraries (IBM not to play favorites...), etc. Very complete
offering. Available some time in March. Requires 1.2EE. A bit more
than $1000 for all of this stuff. There is also a lower-priced
configuration that doesn't include the RPC libraries, etc.

The announcement also stated that it was IBM's intention to deliver
full NFS support for OS/2EE. "Intention to deliver" is IBM code for
"within the next two years" -- but doesn't necessarily mean it will
take two years.
