[comp.protocols.nfs] Problem with vec505.sys solved by vecie3.sys

adam@metaware.metaware.com (At these prices, I can't NAME names) (02/27/90)

I have for the longest time a frustrating problem with pc-nfs 3.0.1a
that I have just solved.

The symptom was this. I would install pc-nfs and everything would
run quite nicely. However, and this is a most nefarious bug, after
about 10 to 15 minutes, all of these machines would invariably freeze.
They would only freeze if they were out of telnet for an uninterrupted
period of ten to fifteen minutes.

Since I would test pc-nfs immediately
after having installed and rebooted, telnet would always work. It is a
bug seemingly 'designed' to defeat detection, because any fix you try
to install to remedy the situation may work or it may not, you have
to wait ten minutes to find out...

In any event, I finally one day (today) swapped out the vec505.sys
file and replaced it with the vecie3.sys file, changing the appropriate line
in ldr.cfg, of course. This fixes the problem, anyone know why?
