[comp.protocols.nfs] Problems with printing Graphics using PC-NFS

GEustace@massey.ac.nz (Glen Eustace) (06/06/90)

We are having a problem with the following situation. Graphs printed
by Quattro-Pro are corrupted by the time they reach the printer.

PC 386SX running PC-NFS 3.0.1

Quattro Pro - set to print graphics to Brother HL-8e on LPT1:,
basically just HP Laserjet style escape sequences.

DEC 3100 Server

DEC Server 100s

We have not previously experienced problems with printing things
using PC-NFS so we have spent our time badgering DEC about possible
LAT problems on the 3100. We were finally told to prove each step.

Printer on local port - works fine.
Print to disk, ftp to server, print to server, diff files.

Woops. They are not the same!! Things go wrong about every 4960 bytes.
The only thing we can guess at is the output to the printer doesn't
have any lf's or cr's in it. It is just raster graphic sequences.

Has anyone had problems with the print redirector in PC-NFS. 4960 is
a strange number, not the sort I would choose for a buffer size.
