We've been using a single 'users' group for quite some time now. We've finally reached the point where we have divided our users up into MANY different groups and have assigned secondary groups by adding user names to the groups as defined in the /etc/group file and then doing the 'make' for NIS. While logged in on PC-NFS, the book claims that you can do 'NET NAME' and see your primary and secondary groups (by number only, not by name). Some machines on the net are using the 3COM 3C503 ethernet card, others are using Cabletron ethernet cards. Quite some time ago, I remember doing a 'NET NAME' on a machine using the 3COM card and getting a report on secondary groups. Since most of our machines have gone to using the Cabletron card I have not seen a report on secondary groups. I should note that the 3COM card required no drives while the Cabletron card does. PC-NFS can be configured for 3COM during installation. Cabletron requires a driver in the config.sys for it to work. In addition, Cabletron also provides a NFSPD.SYS driver which also must be in the config.sys for Cabletron users that are also using PC-NFS. With that information in hand, does anyone else have similar problems getting PC-NFS to recognize secondary groups?? Gerald J.
