I'm doing some research on rogue, and I thought you net.roguers might be able to help out. What I'm studying is what levels are most deadly and which monsters are mostly likely to do you in. I've been keeping a record of all my deaths, but since I can only play about 15 games a day, I don't think my results are statistically significant. If you would like to help, here's what to do: Send in a list of what level you were killed on while playing our favorite game, and what killed you. It is important that you be totally honest and not conceal or change any information. Please submit data in groups of 5 or more CONSECUTIVE games. The data can be in the form 4: O 1: H 8: C 2: K ..... Whether you were killed by a bat on level 1, or an umber hulk on level 23, send it in! Send data from versions 5.2, 4.n, or 3.n (no super rogue or version 8.n). When I get enough data, results will be summarized to the net. Don't tell me that my survey is dumb, I don't want to hear it. I guess level 1 must be the most dangerous. I get killed there a lot more often than I get killed on level 23. Percival Persistent (aka idis!dan)
