[net.games.rogue] cursed ring of strength - bug or feature?

I came across an interesting property of cursed rings of add strength in 5.2.
If you put it on, so your strength goes down (say, to 15/16), then read a
remove curse scroll and take it off, your strength AND MAXIMUM STRENGTH
go up one! (I.e., to 16/17) A restore strength will then bring you up to
max! (I'm in the middle of a game at Str 18 without having yet found the
gain strength potion!)
