We are going to install a second unix box running ISC 2.2 unix and NFS as a file server over an ethernet. I am trying to figure out the best configuration for a good file server (we are using a 386). Is it possible to have a file server that is faster than a larger disk? If so, under what conditions (RAM, disk size, kernel parms, etc.) is this true? If not, what is the advantage of a file server on ethernet? All/any help is appreciated. -- Joe Broniszewski || Philadelphia || (814) 234-8592x34 astph!joe@psuvax1.psu.edu || Phillies || psuvax1!astph!joe
