We operate a Sun sparcstation 1, and several PCs in the University herbarium. We just started using PCNFS with DOS 3.3, and SunOS4.1 and it runs fine until we leave our PCs idle for about 15 minutes or longer. Then the PCs "freeze" up and it becomes impossible to access the NFS mounted drive from the PCs. The other local PC drives work fine but any attempt to access the NFS drive stops the display completely. If we use the NFS drive more or less constantly it seems to work fine for an indefinite period. Would anyone kindly advise? The usual humilty expressed on account of the fact that we are botanists out of our territory. Anyone offering advice will be entitled to an explanation of what an herbarium is. Thanks.
