[comp.protocols.nfs] Problems with PC-NFS & DR DOS 5.0

jeff@com50.c2s.mn.org (Jeffery S. Wilson) (12/20/90)

I am having some problems using PC-NFS ver 3.0.1 with DR DOS 5.0. My machine
is a Unisys PW/2 800/33A (80386 - 33Mhz, 4MB memory) and I am using a 3com
3c501 ethernet card.

I can run PC-NFS without any problems if I load the DR DOS kernel in the
lower 640K or in upper memory (segments A000..F000).

However, if I load the DR DOS kernel in the HMA (segment FFFF), I get the
following error the first time one of the PC-NFS programs is run:

	Page fault error
Press any key to resume program...

This locks up the system.

This is unfortunate, because loading the DR DOS kernel in the HMA would have
allowed me to use all of my available upper memory for loading drivers and
TSR's. Now I have to give up 37k of upper memory to load the kernel.

Any ideas?
