[comp.protocols.nfs] PC/NFS and Windows 3.0 - can it ever work?

pickles@mpr.ca (Clive Pickles) (02/11/91)

Hi,

I'm new to this Usenet system, and I'm sure that this has been asked before
somewhere, BUT I need to have some information on getting PC/NFS (version
3.0.1) to work correctly with Windows 3.0. I have a 386 system running DOS
4.0.1 with a 150 mb HD (so share is installed), and would
like to run this in enhanced mode. From the small amount of news I have
read on this subject in the past couple of days, I don't expect to get
TELNET to work, however it would be nice to be able to run Windows and
Non-windows applications together without my machine mysteriously hanging
about 7 or 8 times a day.

I'm getting diddly-squat out of Microsoft - for follow up support I would
give them a "0". The people who work for Sun are better, but they aren't
that familiar with Windows 3.0 it seems. Anyway, for now I'm stuck.

Any help or hints (even if you say "don't bother - junk Windows") is
appreciated. Thanks.
