[comp.protocols.nfs] PC-NFS and Hi Memory

alukal@hcx.rockefeller.edu (Paul Alukal) (02/13/91)

I don't know whether this subject is discussed here
recently.

We have Zenith 286 PC's running PC-NFS Ver 3.01.
There are also other software running on them which
require more than 500K of base memory (won't use
extended or expanded memory). I was interested whether
PC-NFS can run on extended or expanded memory and the
reply received from SUN Tech Support is:

There is a Card and Software:
Hi Card 2, AMS 5.0.4 by RYBS Electronics Inc.
This card has about 256K, can use the software comes
with it to put device drivers and TSR programs in the
High Memory area ( don't know whether this is similar
to expanded memory) - and this will free about
100K in the base memory. It is also tested in a
Compaq Deskpro, with DOS 4.0.1, and this is the only card
for 286 Machines, as per 'SUN Tech Support'.
However, they don't have the contact number for
RYBS Electronics.

Did anyone out there use any similar PC/Card/Software
and run PC-NFS on the High Memory area? Any other
information regarding running PC-NFS there? Any
Contact number for RYBS Electronics?

Please reply to me directly - will post a summary if
there is interest in this area. Thank you very much.
