Hello folks, I just got a package called "Netroom" from Helix that has a lot of memory management functions to get your network out of the lower 640K on a PC. We have a large number of machines that are 286 AT type machines with 1M of Ram, 640 in the lower 640K and 384K starting at the 1M boundry (extended memory). Due to a quirk in the PC architecture, the 286 can address almost 64K above the 1M boundry even in 8086 mode, and Netroom has a driver called hmaload that is supposed to load other drivers into this region. With IP reassembly turned off, pcnfs.sys (3.0.1)is just small enough to fit in this region (about 61K). However, trying it just makes the machine reboot the first time something tries to touch the network. Has anyone had any success doing this? (It does work with a mouse driver I have). Thanks, Ted Nolan ted@usasoc.soc.mil
