Hi, We have a MOD device connected to one of our PC's which also runs PC-NFS. The MOD has a capacity of up to 1.2 Gb which makes it a good candidate as a dump medium (compared to a 150 Mb tape drive). Now I can actually create a dump file on the MOD as follows: rsh rama /etc/dump 0f - >dumpfile where rama is one of our Suns. However I can't get restore to read it. The obvious: rsh rama /etc/restore tf - <dumpfile doesn't work. I think restore tries to open /dev/tty, which isn't defined when using rsh. I would also like to use the interactive option of restore but I think this is impossible (since stdin is being used to source the dumpfile). Is there a solution? Of course I can always copy dumpfile to a mounted Sun filesystem but this is silly if I dump a whole filesystem (dumpfile is big!).
