We have decided that any new version of rogue would not be complete without land mines. Hand grenades would be handy for treasure rooms as well. So, Ken, is it too late to get these into 5.3? -- Ben Goldfarb uucp: {decvax,duke}!ucf-cs!goldfarb ARPA: goldfarb.ucf-cs@Rand-Relay

Someone suggested land mines and hand grenades as new weapons. What do you want this game to become, real-life??? I think that standard archaic weapons systems are the best. I mean, I'd really feel dirty shooting monsters with a 12-gauge shotgun. One idea, however, would be to expand the monster set by differentiating between lower and upper case (as AD_D does). -- Randwulf (Randy Haskins) genrad!mit-eddie!rh or... rh@mit-ee (via mit-mc)

I agree with Randy, lets keep the modern weapons out of rogue in the future. I can see it now- first you walk down a dimly lit corridor then pushing open the heavy wooden door at the end of the corridor you see the room occupied by 3 Orcs. Then, just in time, you open up with the M-16. The orcs are dead-wow that was fun. Geez, M. R. Kohls ihuxw!thor

As a matter of fact, we've hacked over our rogue severely, and a few months ago we put in several things such as new amulets, a potion of ethereality, *hand grenades*, and some other things. I think it's rogue 3.x. -Rehmi -- By the fork, spoon, and exec of The Great Basfour. Arpa: rehmi@umcp-cs.udel-relay Uucp:...{allegra,seismo}!umcp-cs!rehmi
