[comp.protocols.nfs] PCNFS, SOSS, and CDROM's

craige@pegasus.cc.deakin.OZ.AU (Craige Hicks) (05/30/91)

I am trying to establish a CDROM network using PCNFS on the
user side, SOSS on the CDROM server machine, and TCP/IP as the network
protocol.

Has anyone else implemented, or planning to implement, a similar design?
(or is this folly?)

At present, I am sometimes encountering "rubbish" when running the
Silverplatter CDROM search software. I suspect that the problem is with
either PCNFS or SOSS being unable to cope with record pointers in Large Files.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

CDROM server: 286AT, DOS 3.3, MSCDEX 2.1, SOSS 3.2
