[comp.protocols.nfs] Portmapper & Yellowpages

erick@sunee.waterloo.edu (Erick Engelke) (06/07/91)

If I try to mount (PC)NFS clients to either of my UNIX systems, the portmapper
returns success but a port of zero, ie. not available. The service works
correctly for my Sun workstations and MicroVaxen.

On both UNIX boxes (running SunOS and Ultrix), my PC is correctly listed in
the /etc/exports and on the Sun we have run exportfs since adding my entry.

Could my problems have anything to do with the fact that my Unix machines
are using yellow pages? Is there public specs on YP.

On the PC end I used B&W, FTP, and my own experimental stuff. I checked
the FTP and B&W packets with the packet driver TRACE program.

Any clues would be appreciated.

Erick
