[comp.protocols.nfs] setting window size in PC-NFS

ianm@biobris.biom.csiro.au (Ian McLeod) (06/07/91)

Is it possible to set the read/write window size in PC-NFS 3.5 to a
fixed number. I want to talk to SOSS.

If it is possible how do you do it.

With the latest SOSS this becomes a non-issue: SOSS supports 1K reads/readdirs/
writes, and advertises the correct TSIZE which PC-NFS honours.

As for the more general issue of PC-NFS read/write tuning, the read size
is fixed at 1K for the forseeable future. We've made patches to the
write size available for folks whose server advertises an unusable
TSIZE or who are running over long haul/lossy links. Fixing this
area is a high priority for future PC-NFS releases.

[Usual disclaimers, etc.]
