[comp.mail.multi-media] Need some info on possible research in multimed.

I am doctaral student at City University Of new York in computer science.
I am looking for dissertation topic these days and am curious about multi
med. I have elctrical engg. background and have done some work in Communication
/ Computer networks.
I wanted to get some feedback on the areas of concentration in multi-med.
and it prospects.
I would appreciate some response.
