hal@manta.mel.dit.csiro.au (Harold A. Miller) (09/04/90)
I have just picked up the task of ensuring full network connectivity (which I assume means hardware and supporting software) for a series of LANs, remote from each other throughout Australia. The intention is to eventually use this network for research/development of multi-media mail/etc. The LANs are currently connected by AARNet (the new Australian portion of "the Internet"), at varying speeds (mostly around 48kbps). This is to be increased at some future point, date unknown to me. Any suggestions about things I ought to be doing now, with regard to hardware and software, to ensure that I'm not creating an obsolete system prior to the commencement of mm research? If this is too far off the current discussion in this group, please email. Thanks much.
