[comp.sys.super] Where are they now?

urjlew@ecsvax.uncecs.edu (Rostyk Lewyckyj) (05/21/91)

1. Cray 3
2. Dr. Chens' computer company and their machine
3. Dr. Gene Amdahl
4. Wafer scale integration
5. The DEC supercomputer (DEC 9000 ? :-)
The Evans and Sutherland super (ES-1 ? :-)
These questions were prompted by the announcement by Convex of the
C3800. Latest article in comp.sys.arch says that two have been sold.
When is delivery due?
Please mail me with the latest news for 1-4. 5 is an attempt at
humour.

The first octant of the Serial-1 CRAY-3 is expected to be delivered
to the National Energy Research Supercomputer Center (NERSC) at the
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory before the end of 1991. The
first CRAY-3 will be delivered in octants containing 2 CPU's and 65
MWords (520 MBytes) of memory each. The final 16 CPU configuration
will probably be acheived by October of 1992.

This is not an appropriate topic for this newsgroup. Please take all
further discussion of the ES-1 to comp.sys.micro. ;-)
