If I play a game of rogue but am unable to finish it I can not save it and re-start it. What happens is: in the game I type "S" is says is /qt/allan/rogue.save ok and I say yes. when i want to restart the game I use the command "rogue /qt/allan/rogue.save" or even "rogue -r" and it says "Sorry, saved game is not is the same file." does anyone out there know why, also how can I get it to work correctly. thanks, Allan (qusavx!allan)

There is also the curious limit of 17 saves of a game on (our) rogue 5.2. If you think about the total number of file descriptors allowed by a single program and subtract "stdin", "stdout", and "stderr", 17 becomes very interesting. Has this limitation been fixed? It was VERY dissapointing when I hit this one. The file only had five (5!) bytes in it and four of them where "junk". Sigh, but I still enjoy rogue. I'm sure you're busy with important things Ken, but do you think you could fix this one (if not already)? Thanks. Mike Laman UUCP: {ucbvax,philabs,sdccsu3}!sdcsvax!laman ARPA: mike@NPRDC

Just reading through some old news and came across a great one from early September with someone griping to Ken about a limit of 17 saved games. Why would ANYONE want to save more than 17 games????
