Since there is no bug-bison that I know of, I am posting this information
on this list.
I have a file which causes bison on VMS to crash when it is compiled with
the /optimize option (the default) of the VMS C compiler. Bison does not
crash when compiled with /nooptimize, but it sure is SLOW.
So...
1. If you use bison on VMS, it is probably safest to compile with
/nooptimize.
2. Is there someone who would like a copy of this file? It is pretty
large (almost 15K bytes when all comments and semantic actions are
removed) so I don't think it's advisable to send it to everyone on
this list.
I started to trace down the error, but did not get very far. It looks like
some pointer has gone wild and scribbled on the stack. It might be a
compiler bug, but I don't know for sure. If someone is interested in
tracking down the problem, I will send them the file and the little bit of
information I acquired with the VMS debugger.
