The latest version of gdb only understands version 2 symsegs. This is a real pain, since GNU CC 1.33 doesn't output version 2 symsegs. It still outputs version 1 symsegs. The GNU debugging format is really nice...it does make debugging easier, and faster. Unfortunately, the developers of code A didn't talk to the developers of code B and we're stuck with the results. It's sort of like biting the hand that feeds you, isn't it? This is counter-productive, since they work rather hard to provide us with hi-quality *free* software. If and when mistakes are made, it is our responsibility as members of the ``enlightened'' GNU community to help fix things, not to scold the contributors! 'nuff said...
