[gnu.gcc.bug] gcc on ns32k coff systems

Leisner.Henr@XEROX.COM (Marty) (04/08/89)

I want to install the National NS32xxx gnu system as a cross compiler to a
coff based Genix system. I want to have it running on a sun386i.

I have gcc v1.33, gas 1.31 the binutils and lots of other gnu stuff -- I'm
really not clear how to deal with coff.

I made gcc v1.33 on my Opus board running Genix 3.0, but the genix
assembler has problems groking the compiler output. Genix didn't like the
align 0 directives.

I really would like to know what I need to do get a cross compiling gnu
system to eventually output a coff file in the targets native format.

I suppose gas could write coff modules instead of a.out -- has anyone done
this.

There something called "coff-encapsulation" which I don't really
understand. Pointers to documentation would be appreciated.

Any help would be appreciated.
