[gnu.gcc.bug] masm output

albaugh@EDDIE.MIT.EDU (Mike Albaugh) (05/03/89)

This is not a bug or complaint, but I don't know where else
to ask. I have noticed a fair number of requests for masm 386 output,
and seen no responses. The files distributed with gcc 1.34 seem to include
some steps in that direction, but they are incomplete or non-functional.
If nobody else is doing this, I suppose I will end up doing it, but I don't
want to duplicate effort or step on anybody's toes (or pride). So, if there
is anything more current than the 1.34 tape (masm386.c and a _partial_
conversion of the md file for alterable order of operands) please let me
know where I can get it. If not, please let me know and I'll start trying to
make time for doing the work myself. I am particularly concerned with not
coming up with changes that will differ enough from the "official" version
to make merges/upgrades difficult. I am neither a 386, nor a MASM, nor yet
a Xenix/386 guru, but I _have_ gotten a cross-compiler for a new Risc
running on vms, so I'm not a complete novice, gcc-wise. I personally
want this beast so I can bid vms adios and do my cross-compiles on this
Xenix box. Several others want it for their own reasons.

					Thanks for your time,
					Mike

p.s. Did you get my changes for 1.34 under vms?
