[gnu.gcc.bug] compiling emacs with gcc

rich@oxtrap.sendai.ann-arbor.mi.us (K. Richard Magill) (06/08/89)

18.54 with 1.35.

on a sun3/50 running sunos4.0.1, gcc -O -fstrength-reduce
-fomit-frame-pointer works fine. (-finline-functions seems to be a
mistake, although I didn't try -keep-inlines).

on a sequent symmetry (i386) running dynix 3.0.14, -traditional is
required. (without it, the emacs never receives characters, X11 or
otherwise. under X11, X eventually times out and claims too many
retries and thus "network is down".)

I don't understand, but that's the way it is.
