[gnu.gcc.bug] Problem compiling gcc on Sun 3/80

sam@ccsn2.uucp (Sam Moore) (09/06/89)

System: Sun 3/80, 68030/68881, SunOS 4.0.3
Problem: Error in gnulib.

I configure for sun3-os4 and "make".

Then I try to use gcc and get the following error:

ld: stage1/gnulib(__.SYMDEF): ran out of memory (toc)

Did you also happen to make gcc for a different architecture just
prior to this, e.g. a sun 4? `make clean' does not delete gnulib, so
you may have gotten the wrong architecture by default!

If you remove gnulib and remake it for the sun 3 this will clear
things up.

Has anyone built gcc for a Sun3/80(68030). How did you do it?

I've built gcc-1.34 on a Sun3/80 (SunOS 4.0.3).
I did a usual way to build it.

Do 'config.gcc sun3os4', and make it. If your copy is used on the other
system, you may do 'make realclean' before do 'config.gcc sun3os4'.

I have compiled X11R3 and some gnu product including gnu emacs-18.55,
and have no problem.
