[gnu.gcc.bug] Bringing up GCC 1.36 on Pyramid

edvax@pyrite.som.cwru.edu (Edward Reznichenko) (10/12/89)

System: Pyramid 90x series
OS: OSx 4.4 C
GCC Version: GCC 1.36

Problem Description: Gcc dumps core while compiling the math library
(gnulib) at stage2.

'Make' and make of stage1 complete just fine. However, gcc dumps
core (cc1 signal 4 -illegal instruction) on the first file of gnulib
when making stage2. This occurs with "-O" flag. Without the
ompimization enabled, both stages compile and link properly.
As a test of the compiled gcc 1.36, I then tried to compile
gnu emaccs 18.55 on the same pyramid. As before, no optimization,
everything goes fine, till the point when temacs is going to run
batch. All I get when I try to run the compiled temacs is (Fatal
error 10) and it just sits there - doesn't return to the shell prompt.
(I tried the _longjmp, _setjmp things mentioned in 18.55 docs for
the pyramid with the same results). Any help on the matter would
be greatly appreciated.
