In almost every game i've won, i've either had excellent offenseive or
defensive powers. Some of what it took were:
1. greatly enchanted sword and ring of increase damage
2. 2 potions of haste that makes it permanent
3. staves of light to see U's first so they can't confuse you
4. scroll of genocide for U's
5. rings of regeneration and slow digestion
6. excellent (negative) plate mail (or some other greatly enchanted armor)
I have given up using staves of polymorph cause it always seem to create a
tougher monster. Teleportion, healing or strength increasing magic is a help,
as well as sustaining armor, strength, etc.

I'm not sure you can drink two haste potions in a row, and get it permanently for any version over 3.6.. Is this a later version than 3.6?
