SYNOPSIS:
    Installation of X windows using gcc version 1.35 fails to work properly and
    X windows does not properly execute when built using gcc version 1.36 with
    shared libraries.

DESCRIPTION:
    When built with gcc v1.36 X Windows installations completes and installs.
    But xinit will only start the server with an xterm window or xload, any
    other client program that modifies the root window or attempts to create a
    window dies with a disconnect message and a logout of the user, unless the
    user is root. Then the window dies but does not logout the user. 
    
    The behavior with gcc v1.35 is the same as reported by W. Phillip Moore. 

REPEAT BY:
    Install X11R4 on a Sun 4 with gcc v1.35 or 1.36 with shared libraries.
