Yes, you can confuse a monster by throwing something at it. I discovered it while trying to save my red hands for a more important monster than the bat that was in the room with me. So I wielded by bow and threw an arrow at the bat. It hit home and sure enough, the bat was confused (although many of them seem naturally confused [a natural high]). Schneids ssc-vax!schneids

Well, what you have noticed is nothing strange. Scroll of monster confusion does work that way. By the way, it's NOT correct to say that cross-bow bolts are worthless without a crossbow. They certainly are less effective but still better than arrows or darts.

This scroll is the only perfect, surefire deathdealer to Venus Flytraps that I have found. In the 8 or 9 times that i have encountered 'F' while possesing a '?' of Confuse Monsters since I discovered this, it has worked every time. I guess it makes sense too, a confused plant *is* pretty helpless.
