[net.followup] Reed College occupation

gil@reed.UUCP (Gil Moskowitz) (01/28/86)

The opening to an article I posted yesterday:

> The following is a statement issued by the approxi-
> mately 100 students currently occupying Eliot Hall, the Reed
> College administration building. These protesters first
> occupied the building on Saturday, January 25, after a meet-
> ing of the Board of Trustees of Reed decided against total
> divestment from South Africa.

Yesterday (Jan 27) I posted to net.general a statement to the
Reed College community issued by a group of students occupying
Eliot Hall, the main administration building. My reason for
doing so was a request made by those occupiers. The content
as well as the distribution was decided on by those people, and,
as a student of the college with the ability to do so, I helped
them. This has little to do with my personal feelings on either
the divestment issue or the occupation.
I apologize to those who feel "my" choice was inappropriate.

Don't apologize, Gil! Your posting was certainly of more
general interest than most of what gets into net.general *OR*
net.announce.
