I found myself forced to fight an floating eye since it blocked the only entrance I could get to in the room with the stairway. I swiped at it with my two handed sword, and was instantly transfixed. Ouch. THe other side of the room started filling up with monsters trying to get at me. ( I was in the doorway.) before I finally starved, there were 3 zombies, 1 snake 2 gnomes, 3 bats, and a hobgoblin frantically trying to get at me. You know that the only time you HAVE to fight a floating eye is when you get transfixed.... In 5.3 it: keeps lepracaun (sp?) from stealing gold, keeps nymph from stealing magic, prevents a W from draining experience, allows magic to work (better) on Xorns, etc.
