["Ice monsters are great for keeping potions chilled." --Conan the Bavarian] Unfortunately, I can confirm R.H.'s report. Sometimes I have more than enough HP to sustain a single blow, but still get wiped out. I suspect that there are two problems: against a Fly-Trap, there's no maximum damage to look up. So don't "f" a fly-trap. goofs in the table of maximum damages by monster. Not that I have verified the existence of such a table ... third point: obviously a stuttering terminal will evoke the same phenomenon. -- Col. G. L. Not that I have verified the existence of such a table ... /* ---------- */ There is an internal table of the monsters. In our version (unlimited kinds of monsters) we have played around with this a lot, adding new monsters and switching powers around, etc. I once had an incredibly good character, who looked like he was going all the way, with 60-some hit points (at 7th level, I think), who was killed in a single hit by an easy monster. Someone had typoed 1d8 into 1d80 for its damage. Arrgh! Carl ..!ctvax!uokvax!uok!crigney ..!duke!uok!crigney
