Talk about a cryin' shame... I was killed by a quagga on level 9 (I had 9 hp's, and according to my cheat sheet, Q's hit 2d5 (GRRR). Anyway, I decided to put on my ring of regen. instead of quaffing (which would have been the right thing to do, sigh) or dropping one of my three scrolls of Scare Monster. Gee, if only I'd found the protect armor so I could have been wearing my (found as) +1 plate mail. I should have realized that with just a long sword, I would have to be careful. Maybe I should have put on Regen. and zapped drain life... Or, I could have read Confuse Monster... GOD, AM I PISSED AT MYSELF!!!!! All I had to do (and it's not clear that I had to...) was find protect armor, and nothing would have stopped me.
