[net.games.rogue] Reading scrolls and a nifty bug

I also agree with the view that you should wait to
read unknown scrolls until you have things to identify.
However we have found a nifty bug (feature?) concerning
identify scrolls. If yuo know the inventory letter of
any wand or staff, *ANY* id scroll will identify it.
You have to know the inventory letter, though, because
if you ask what can be identified it will only tell
you what the scroll asks for (armor, weapons, etc.).
This can be quite useful during lower levels when you
have several unidentified wands and staffs, and are set
otherwise (good armor and weapon).

As for when to read scrolls, I too like to read them at
the beginning of a level until I find magic mapping. I
then read them at the end of levels until I find summon
monster.

Try it, you'll like it.
