[comp.os.v] multicast in sun unix server

cdash@boulder.Colorado.EDU (Charles Shub) (08/31/88)

has anybody other than vasudev at calgary brought up a sun unix server for V
6.0? We are trying, but the sun (3.2) driver seems not to be setting the
board/chip to pass multicast packets to the driver, so the driver can't pass
the packets to the packet filter software, and the packet filter software can't
pass them to the server, so we hang up at the tail end of the boot sequence.
Vload goes to work and loads the 1st team and the kernel and we hang up when
trying to get sun120vgts. We had a similar problem when using an ultrix server
and traced that down to the ultrix kernel not initializing the ethernet board
to accept multicast packets. Since the boot sequence stopes in EXACTLY the same
place, we are assuming it is a multicast problem. Any advice would be
appreciated. thanks...
