I have a few questions for the V user community, particularly those at Stanford. 1. Has anybody out there written a SCSI driver yet? We've been wanting to for quite some time, but manpower limitations and difficulty getting SUN Unix source to port from have kept us from ever getting it done. It'd sure be nice to have access to all those big, cheap disks and tape drives. 2. Has anybody written rtar/dump for dumping from dedicated V fileservers to tape backup (which could be hanging off a Unix box or whatever, if rtar is available)? It "should be" fairly easy, but again, manpower limitations are getting in our way. Having to backup everything to a <slow as hell> Vax in order to get it onto tape is clearly non-optimal. 3. Is anybody working on porting V to the SPARCstations and similar ilk? That'd be a reasonably big chore, even if you had access to SUN Unix source for the Sparcs, but will have to be done if V is going to outlive the demise of the SUN-3 and uVax lines.
